Over 50 years of Torah, leadership, and the Rebbe’s first Shluchim in America.
Over 50 years ago, the Rebbe established The Yeshiva Gedolah Miami in Miami, appointing Rabbi Yehuda Leib Schapiro as Rosh Yeshiva and selecting the founding group of 11 students. What began in a small apartment and courtyard shed soon grew into the educational complex on Alton Road.
The Yeshiva quickly became the heart of Chabad in South Florida, drawing people to regular Torah study and chavrusa learning. It was also the first place in America where the Rebbe sent shluchim, sparking the growth of Chabad throughout the region and beyond.
Our comprehensive programs are designed to develop well-rounded Torah scholars and community leaders.
Every week, the shluchim arrange that each and every Bochur goes out on mivtzoyim, reaching hundreds of Jews across South Florida. Whether it’s helping a fellow Jew put on tefillin or sharing words of Torah, these activities bring the Rebbe’s vision of spreading Yiddishkeit to life, far beyond the walls of the yeshiva.
The Rebbe strongly encouraged bochurim to “koch in lernen Gemara,” to be deeply immersed in Torah study. Through Mivtzah Torah, the shluchim work with bochurim to strengthen their commitment to Gemara learning, in line with the Rebbe’s vision for true yeshiva life.
The shluchim arrange regular Seder Sichos, where bochurim gather to learn and review the Rebbe’s sichos together. These sessions strengthen their connection to the Rebbe, offering inspiration, perspective, and a deeper understanding of the Rebbe’s Torah.
The Shluchim also organize special programs throughout the year tied to Yomim Tovim and Yomei Depagra, highlighting the Rebbe’s perspective on each occasion and giving bochurim opportunities to experience the Rebbe’s teachings in action.
